CENTRAL KENYA(MOUNT KENYA REGION)HERITAGE



Mount Kenya Region in Kenya is named after Mount Kenya, which is the highest Mountain in Kenya. The Counties comprising or forming the region are.
1. Murang'a County.
2. Nyeri County.
3. Kirinyaga County.
4. Kiambu County.
5. Nyandarua County.
6. Embu County.
7. Laikipia County
8. Meru County.
The main ethnic groups living around Mount Kenya are Kikuyu, Ameru, Embu and some Maasai community who are within Laikipia couty. The first three are closely related as they are Bantus, while the rest are Plain Nilotes and who are purko. They are semi nomadic people,and use the land to graze their cattles. The first 3 are believed to have originated from the shores of Mount Kenya. They are agriculturalists where they use the volcanic soil from Mount Kenya to grow cash crops such as Coffee, Tea leaves, Bananas, Maize, Rice, rearing Dairy Cows, Poultry, Rabbits, and Fish etc.


About religion here, over 90% is Christianity. In the year 1902, Consolata Missionaries arrived in Kenya and after struggling looking for where to settle, they were then after settled at Tuthu, a sub location which is located in Murang'a County. The priests who were Tommaso Gays,Filippo Perlo, under the assistance of Luigi Falda and Celeste Lusso from Italy arrived here and were invited by paramount chief Karuri wa Gakure. It’s about 45minutes drive from Murang'a Town towards Abadare ranges,and about 3hours from Nairobi City.

From all directions of Mount Kenya, the mountain is visible and especially during the sunny day. The mountain has 3 highest peaks namely Batian, Nelion and Lenana.Its about 17kilometers southern part of the Equator.

DIFFERENT PLANTS IN KENYA.

A plant is any one of the vast number of organisms within the biological kingdom Plantae; The species are considered of limited motility and generally manufacture their own food. They include a host of familiar organisms including trees, forbs, shrubs, grasses, vines, ferns, and mosses.

There are many plants that are found in Kenya. Big plants and small plants. 

 Mimosa pudica (from Latin: pudica "shy, bashful or shrinking"; also called sensitive plant, sleepy plant, Dormilones, touch-me-not, or shy plant) is a creeping annual or perennial herb of the pea family Fabaceae often grown for its curiosity value: the compound leaves fold inward and droop when touched or shaken, ...

This are the plants that are highly found in central Kenya and especially in Mugoiri -Murang'a county, the plant Mimosa pudica are found growing beside the Roads .

This is done through different types of languages. A vivid communication means a clear information to one another. In Kenya, English and Kiswahili remains as the National languages. But this still does not mean that are no other languages spoken by Kenyans or other people visited Kenya.

The community here are bantus. they are Ameru,Agikuyu,Aembu and Ambeere. In the mountain are different types of large animals like Elephants, Buffalos

Buffalo.(also know as Mbogo in Kikuyu language) and kifaru when in singular form in swahili language,and Vifaru in plural form in swahili language,most live in this mountain. the mountain bounder Central Kenya in Thika County and Eastern province region. its 45minutes drive from Nairobi City and about 25 minutes from Thika town along Garissa road.
, Antelope, Lions, leopards, Zebra and many other animals. not forgeting that are monkeys and snakes.
other mountains are Abadare ranges where elaphants. Along the shores of the mountain is Athi river. This is the river forming fourteenfall.

are mostly found, Kilimambogo mountain where Buffaloes are highly found. the name after this mountain is 'Kilimambogo' meaning the Buffaloes mountain.

There are big rivers along the areas,where crocodiles,fish,hipoppotamus and other animals living in waters are found. example of the rivers are
1. Tana River-it sources are from mount kenya. its the biggest river in Kenya. This is the homes of Hippos and crocodiles.
2. Athi River-connecting and passed in some parts of Nairobi the capital city of Kenya.

Along Nairobi Nyeri Highways, is Delmonte Farm.through the window can see pineapple farming with thousands of acres planted pineapples. The farm is within Thika Town in Central Kenya. its 40Km from Nairobi City and 2Km from Thika Towns.
